The paragraph of the day (tpotd) is free. Paragraphs are delivered by e-mail, usually in the afternoon. Despite its name, the paragraph of the day comes only on weekdays, and not every weekday at that.
The emphasis here is on the quality of the writing: we are not endorsing the ideas; we are not trying to cover any particular subject matter.
To receive paragraphs by e-mail, subscribe on this site. Some readers say they need the paragraph of the day as much as their coffee and nicotine gum.
Most of the paragraphs on this website are accompanied by a short comment, some information about the author, and links to purchase the author’s books through Amazon.com. To buy through independent bookstores, use http://www.booksense.com.
The editors encourage readers to submit proposed paragraphs, comments, biographical information, and corrections. If you propose a paragraph, please include the author, title, and date of original publication. We appreciate suggestions; our staff is querulous and unreliable, so we need whatever help we can get.
